The bell rang and school was done. It was the first day of Summer for the members of Catherine's Creek. Many were heading home and the rest were spending their vacation on the school campus. Alison Harvick was one of the few that stayed. She had just finished her first year and was just informed that her roommate had graduated. It had been a rocky start for her and she was looking forward for a Summer away from home.

As she turned in the last of her textbooks, she grabbed her courier bag and left for the women's dormitory.

Carolyn sighed at the sound of the bell and rolls her eyes. Great. Summer. Woo-hoo. It doesn't matter if she doesn't even go home. She slammed her books into her raggedy messenger. This summer blows already.

Alison let out a small sigh. As she reached the dormitory, she could hear only a couple of the girls relaxing in the lounge. She passed by and made her way to her room. 36b, same as usual... As soon as Alison could get into her room, she put her bag down and went out to the track. She wanted to burn off some steam.

"F*ck this." Carolyn practically screamed. This was NOT the day to screw with her. Her key broke off in the keyhole due to her aggressive nature.

Alison could hear what sounded like a yell coming from down the hall. Before she left the dorm, she went quick in the direction of the voice.

"STUPID HOBAG DOOR. OH MY GOD. THUNDERC**T." Carolyn starts beating on the door, practically kicking it down when an unfamiliar figure appears.

Alison held a bit of a confused look. "Hey, easy. Are you okay?" She kept a bit of distance.

Carolyn straightened up, trying to appear as normal as can be in this very awkward situation. "Uh, I just broke my key... inside of my door. As you can probably assume, I'm not having a great day, and this is just the icing on the cake."

"I'm having a pretty terrible day as well." Alison decided to change the subject. "So, are you going home for Summer?"

Carolyn bitterly muttered, "No, I have to stay here, unfortunately. What about you?"

"The same for me. I have no intentions of even trying to reach my home. I'd rather spend three months on campus."

"Well, my situation is... complicated. I'd rather be home, but with my stepmum in the picture... I think I'd rather jump into a stampede of animals, Mufasa style."

"Ah, I see. Yes, I can understand that." Alison smiled a bit. Alison, personally, did not want to be in any contact with her parents. They were unstable vampires and she couldn't stand being around them.

"Who can I call about the door problem?" This girl gave her the creeeeps.

"Probably one of the custodians. They could try to fix it." She laughed slightly. "I best be going. I need to burn off some steam too."

"Well thanks for the help, bye!" Carolyn walked the other way and muttered "what a freak."

Alison sighed slightly. As she went out to the track, she thought, I never even asked her name. She shrugged. When she was out there, she started running to exercise and get some things off of her mind. Being a vampire, she was slightly faster than most of the students for a longer period. Alison enjoyed this but did mind her cover for protection.

Due to summer, the custodians seemed to have left long after Carolyn arrived at the office to call for one. "sh*t," was all she could mutter. "Looks like I'll be finding a motel tonight," she stammered at the realization. She kicked up rocks and headed towards her car.

When Alison finished her running, she decided to head back to her dorm for a bit to grab her jacket. She had plans that evening. A walk in town, but she didn't want to be recognized nor did she wish for much contact with anyone. The evening hours were the most peaceful for her.
