Code Lyoko: Fresh Start

Hey, everyone. I'm here with a new role-play to add on the list. This is locked to only Gopher and myself for the time being. I'm the Game Master this time around and I'll be setting up the topic.

Current Plot:

The story of the original Lyoko Warriors may be over, but did they really win the war? We fast forward about five or so years since the warriors ended their story and a new set of heroes must fulfill their duties as the protectors of Lyoko. Emma Moreaux and Caine Garnier discover the super-computer and turn it on once again. However, they are surprised to find XANA lurking in the shadows yet again and must take on the roles of the previous generation.

Character List:

Emma Moreaux, 15. (ZeldaG)
Taking after the role of Jeremie Belpois, Emma is the brains in the group on how to operate the computer. She is capable of going to Lyoko in the case of emergency, but would prefer staying behind the monitor.

Caine Garnier, 15. (Gopher)
Inheriting Aelita Schaeffer's title, Caine serves as the new Prince of Lyoko and a new target for XANA. He has enough computer knowledge to substitute in for Emma, but only in the case that she is unable to use the super-computer. He is primarily a Lyoko Warrior and must deactivate XANA's towers.

She glanced around the corner, trying to spot the elevator. "Caine!" Emma called. "I think I found it!"
For a few days now, Emma Moreaux had been anxiously waiting for the day to finally explore the abandoned factory that was just south-east of Kadic Academy. Rumors constantly traveled around school and she was ready to figure out the truth. Many students were afraid to even go there because it was off-limits. Of course, Emma didn't exactly care. She loved the idea of checking out the technology and thought it was time to finally time to explore the heart of the place.

Caine turned his head as he heard the sound of Emma's voice. "Okay, I'm on my way. Stay where you are." Caine Garnier was one of Emma's closest and oldest friends. He was always one for adventure and exploring new places, so when Emma said she wanted to scope out the old factory near their school, he couldn't think of anything he'd rather spend his time doing than accompanying Emma to check out the factory.

Emma waved for him to come over and then walked over to the elevator when he did. "This has to lead somewhere," she said. "I get this feeling we're on the verge to a discovery."
As she walked to the keypad, she realized it was locked. Emma pulled her glasses up a bit and almost stared at it in thought. "If I were a scientist, what would be my combination?"

Caine saw Emma and ran slowly over to where she was standing. He noticed that she was staring at a key pad. "There's a combination lock? Oh man, this could take hours, if not days to figure out", Caine said in a rather disheartened tone of voice. He then sighed and lent against the inside wall of the elevator.

She continued to think rather deep in thought. "... And if I were a really obvious scientist..." Emma typed the outside four corners of the keypad. She heard a shifting above and below them, signaling that the elevator was operational.

"See?" she said. "It's not like it's rocket science." Emma laughed a bit. "Going down." She pressed the red button and the elevator door closed. The elevator moved down to the next floor.

Caine laughed slightly. "Wow, the code was that simple? I'm surprised no-one tried this before us. Wonder what we'll find on the next floor. Hope it's something cool and not just more piles of scrap metal."

Caine was beginning to feel excited, plus a little anxious, about what awaited them on the next floor. "Here's a thought, what if there's something bad down there?"

Emma nodded, agreeing with his statement. "Whatever we find, it will be what we came here to find. There's no turning back now."

After a moment of the elevator moving, it finally slowed to a stop on the second floor. The doors opened and the large room lit up. Revealed was a large computer and a floor panel that appeared to be connected to it.

"Woah," Emma said. "This is pretty high tech." She stepped off the elevator and into the room. When she got over to the computer, she said, "It's off. There's no power running to it here."

Caine looked around the room, searching for a power switch or something that may lead to one. Then he noticed a ladder in the middle of the wall to the right of them, and at the foot of it was a hatch. "Hmm, I wonder where that leads", Caine said as he began walking towards it.

As Caine reached the hatch, he bent down and slid it open. Below he saw another room, but instead of containing computer equipment there were three cylinder shaped devices in the center of the room, each easily big enough to acomodate a person.

"Emma, you may want to come and take a look at this"

Emma heard his call and followed shortly after. She noticed the mysterious devices below and then said, "Let's go check them out. Find out what they are." She climbed down the ladder and silently observed.

As Caine and Emma observed the strange devices, Caine noticed that all the wires and cables from the room above proceeded into the room he was in now, and that both sets of cables continued even further downward. At this moment, Caine exclaimed "Hey! Some of these must be the power cables. If we follow them, I'll bet they'll lead us the whatever powers these things, and the computer above us."

Caine traced the cables around the room and finally concluded that there must be another room below them. At that moment, his attention was drawn to the hatch in the middle of the room.

"Emma, come here. Give me a hand getting this hatch off"

Emma walked over to Caine and pulled the hatch with him. "Come on, you stupid hatch. Budge!"

After the hatch was removed, Caine went to the opening in the middle of the room and looked down into the room below.

"I knew it!", Caine said as he pointed to the wires leading from the edges of the room, to underneath a large, circular, metal panel with a strange looking symbol in the center of it. The panel looked as if it split into 3 segments.

"Look, the generator or whatever powers this place must be under there." Caine stood back back up straight, with a curious expression on his face. "Now, how do we get down there?"

"I think the elevator leads down there. We can try it and see if it works," she suggested. "Besides, it doesn't look like there's another way down unless we can fly."

"Well then, lets get to it", Caine said, eager to get the power on to find out the purpose of all the equipment the two of them had discovered.

Emma went back to the elevator with Caine right behind her. She pressed the button again and traveled down to the third floor. As they entered, she caught sight of the strange machinery in the room as it rose from a platform underneath the floor. Steam rose from it as it moved. "This must be it."

Caine stared at the machine for a moment then realised something. "Wait a second. This isn't a power generator, or at least that isn't its only purpose, it can't be. I mean, look at the what its made of." Caine examined the machine again.

"Emma, any idea what this thing is?"

"I don't know, but it looks like it links to the second and third floor. It has to be a power supply of sorts. A core of some kind..."

Emma examined it a bit and then caught sight of a panel next to a button. She pressed it and the panel opened, revealing a lever.

"... And I think we just found it."

Caine saw Emma's hand reach for the lever. Caine, for one of the first times in his life, was cautious about 'exploring' any further. "Emma, are you sure that's such a good idea, I mean, this thing must have been turned off for a reason right? We don't even really know what it is." Caine noticed Emma wasn't stopping.

"Maybe we should at least think about this for a moment before doing anything we might regret later. For all we know this thing could explode the second we turn it on." Caine stepped closer to Emma, just in case she tried to do anything rash.

Emma hesitated and drew back her hand. She pushed up her glasses and then said, "Well, lets think of it this way. Whatever this leads to, it has to lead to the computer upstairs. There's a reason it's here. We can eliminate the chances of a bomb because of the fact that it's a piece of computer equipment. A computer is a computer. Turning it on isn't going to automatically kill us."

Caine looked at Emma and sighed. "Well Emma, if you think it will be okay and it is safe to turn on, then I trust you. Go ahead, you do the honors" Caine smiled calmly a Emma, to assure her that she had his approval.

Even Emma started to realize she had some slight hesitation, but she knew it was what they came to find out. She flipped the lever and the golden panels on the core began to light.

"Alright, the computer should turn on now."

Caine watched as the machine in front of him lit up and he then noticed the rest of the lights in the room turn on. He then noticed light coming from the room above as well.

"Okay Emma, you head up to that computer lab and see if you can find out what this stuff actually does. I'm gona check out those machines in the room above us."

Emma nodded. "Alright, I'm on it." She headed to the elevator and hit the button, taking her up to the first floor. As the doors opened, she said, "Now, let's see what this computer is all about."
